Western Azerbaijan Community: US congressmen's unacceptable position towards Azerbaijan is clear blackmail
"On October 3, 2024, a group of US congressmen wrote a letter to the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, expressing an unacceptable position towards Azerbaijan. The congressmen took advantage of the fact that Azerbaijan hosted the 29th meeting of the parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) to discuss Armenia's agenda and all issues that serve to renew the conflict in the region, including the release of those responsible for the war. crimes against international law, they are trying to promote these issues. This is clear blackmail," the Western Azerbaijan Community said in a statement.

"First of all, we note that holding COP29 in Azerbaijan is its contribution to solving universal problems. Secondly, Azerbaijan's decision to host COP29 was unanimously supported by the states parties to the convention. The congressmen's attempts to use the COP29 issue as a means of blackmail are directed not only against Azerbaijan, but also against the world as a whole and international efforts related to climate change.

The authors of the blackmail appeal hate Azerbaijan so much that they discriminate against Azerbaijanis on ethnic and religious grounds, including the ethnic cleansing of more than a million Azerbaijanis from Armenia and the then occupied territories of Azerbaijan, as well as the destruction and mining of these territories by Armenia; they did not even try to hide their indifference. The style and content of the petition leave no doubt that it was prepared by the US State Department.

We demand that the United States of America stop its policy of blackmail and racial discrimination against Azerbaijan, as well as attempts to create a new conflict in the region, and respect the right of Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia to return to their homes," the Community added.
