The 29th Annual Conference and General Assembly of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP), the world’s first and only global organization for prosecutors, is taking place in Baku from September 29 to October 2, featuring a series of meetings with representatives from international organizations and foreign states.
According to the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office, Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev met with a delegation led by Nasr Khamis Al Sawaii, the Attorney General of the Sultanate of Oman, on September 29.
During the meeting, Aliyev noted the positive cooperation between Azerbaijan and Oman, both bilaterally and multilaterally, particularly within the frameworks of the Non-Aligned Movement and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. He emphasized that relations are strengthening across various sectors, including economy, energy, education, and tourism.
Aliyev highlighted the significance of mutual visits between the two countries and pointed out the successful development of ties with Oman’s prosecution services with the IAP and other professional platforms.
He stressed the historical importance of hosting the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Azerbaijan, stating that it will mark a significant milestone in the global fight against climate change.
Aliyev invited his Omani counterpart to a high-level plenary meeting scheduled for November 15 in Baku, organized by Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General's Office and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
The meeting also included a productive exchange of ideas on legal cooperation within bilateral and international frameworks, leading both parties to agree on preparing a Memorandum of Understanding to further strengthen relations between their prosecution offices.
