Azerbaijan, Belarus discuss cooperation within international organizations

Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Samir Sharifov met Wednesday with his Belarusian counterpart Igor Nazaruk.

During the meeting, they pointed out that the high-level dialogue gave an important impetus to the expanding interaction between the two countries, strengthening the existing strategic partnership, and developing dynamic cooperation.

The meeting focused on political, economic-trade, cultural-humanitarian, bilateral cooperation, and that within international and regional organizations. They also discussed regional security, joint projects and initiatives, including other issues of mutual interest.

The sides lauded the positive momentum observed in all areas of bilateral relations.

The Deputy FMs stressed the activity of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission between Azerbaijan and Belarus in deepening bilateral economic relations, and identifying new avenues for legal cooperation.

Deputy FM Samir Sharifov provided insight into the preparation of 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) and emphasized that Azerbaijan's hosting the COP29 created favorable opportunity for new cooperation areas.

The meeting also saw an exchange of views on the legal framework between the two countries.
