Mazahir Panahov, Chairman of Azerbaijan’s Central Election Commission (CEC), met with Tarek Ladjal, head of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) observation mission.

CEC Chairman Panahov expressed his satisfaction over the fact that the OIC observation mission will monitor the parliamentary elections.

Mazahir Panahov stated that to ensure transparency, webcams have been installed in 1,000 polling stations across the country, allowing for direct and continuous online observation on Election Day without requiring registration.

The chairman of the commission emphasized that political parties and civil society institutions in the country are especially involved in observing the elections. Panahov also said that three organizations applied to the Milli Majlis to conduct an "exit-poll" regarding the snap elections. He then informed Tarek Ladjal that the media representatives operate independently and cover the election process in a transparent manner.

During the meeting, Panahov emphasized that this election marks the first time parliamentary elections will be conducted across Azerbaijan's entire sovereign territory. He noted that 54 polling stations have been established in the recently liberated territories to enable over 42,000 voters to exercise their constitutional rights.

Panahov further stated that 990 candidates are competing for parliamentary seats.

In response, Tarek Ladjal expressed confidence in the peaceful and safe conduct of the elections and praised the robust election environment. The sides also exchanged views on various election-related issues.
