Mazahir Panahov, Chairman of Azerbaijan’s Central Election Commission (CEC), met with Nuran Niyazaliyev, Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), on Friday. Niyazaliyev, accompanied by a delegation, is in Azerbaijan to observe the upcoming snap parliamentary elections.

During the meeting, Panahov emphasized that this election marks the first time parliamentary elections will be conducted across Azerbaijan's entire sovereign territory. He noted that 54 polling stations have been established in the recently liberated territories to enable over 42,000 voters to exercise their constitutional rights.

Panahov further stated that 990 candidates are competing for parliamentary seats, with over 600 international and 112 domestic observers monitoring the process. To ensure transparency, webcams have been installed in 1,000 polling stations across the country, allowing for direct and continuous online observation on Election Day without requiring registration.

Niyazaliyev, leading the SCO observation mission, highlighted the close cooperation between Azerbaijan and the SCO and expressed confidence that the upcoming parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan would be conducted in a free, democratic, and transparent manner.
