Azerbaijan, Pakistan discuss strategic partnership

As part of his official visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan`s Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, Acting President and Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan.

Highlighting the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, the parties also engaged in discussions covering regional and international issues.

Minister Bayramov expressed his gratitude to friendly and fraternal Pakistan for the hospitality shown during his visit, emphasizing that such visits and contacts would contribute to evolving the strategic partnership.

The two hailed the fruitful development of the rich bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and Pakistan within regional and international platforms. They highlighted the mutually beneficial cooperation in areas such as defence, economy, trade, investments, energy security, transport, communications, and tourism, noting the potential for further development.

Mentioning the existing relations and contacts between the parliaments of both countries, which contribute to friendship and cooperation between the states and peoples, the sides commended the mutual support and activity within regional and international organizations, especially the United Nations (UN), the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

Jeyhun Bayramov provided insight into the current regional situation in the post-conflict period, as well as the ongoing large-scale restoration and construction efforts in the liberated territories, and the normalization and peace negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

He also shed light on the preparation and negotiation process for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), underlining that Azerbaijan highly values the opportunities for cooperation in addressing climate change.
