The first meeting of the political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has been held in Baku.
The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elnur Mammadov, and the Australian delegation by Rod Brazier, Deputy Secretary, Development, Multilateral and Europe Group of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state of relations between the two countries, expansion of cooperation in political, economic, humanitarian and other domains, as well as prospects for the development.
Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov highlighted the current situation in the region during the post-conflict period, the restoration and reconstruction works, as well as the demining process carried out in the liberated territories.
He noted that Azerbaijan’s hosting of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) created favorable opportunities for cooperation.
The meeting also saw discussions on the prospects for cooperation between the two countries within the international organizations.
