Russian Federal Assembly's Federation Council delegation to monitor presidential election in Azerbaijan

A delegation of the Federation Council, the upper chamber of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, led by Grigory Karasin, the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, will monitor the upcoming presidential election in Azerbaijan.

 

"The senators will be involved in observing the snap presidential election in the Republic of Azerbaijan from February 5 to 8," the press service of the upper chamber of the Federal Assembly said.

 

The parliamentarians will travel to Azerbaijan as part of observer missions from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member Nations.

 

The delegation includes First Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education and Culture Iliyas Umakhanov, Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Federal Structure, Regional Policy, Local Government and Northern Affairs Anatoly Shirokov and Member of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building Alexander Bashkin.
