Member of Nazione Party: France is extremely concerned about our strengthening

Six months ago, a society of former Corsican political prisoners put forward an initiative to establish a new political movement. The new movement has been a great success since its inception. The General Assembly, held two days ago in Corte, decided to create a new patriotic movement, which is named "Nazione". France is extremely concerned about the newly created movement. Since its establishment, its success and popularity have become a source of concern for France,” said Jean-Philippe Antolini, the former spokesman for the "Patriotti" Party and currently a member of the "Nazione" Party in his interview with AZERTAC.

He said that France began to be concerned right 48 hours after the General Assembly of the "Nazione" party took place. “The French police, who rushed into the house of two activists, demonstrated violence towards them, and detained them. The police destroyed their houses. Images of this violence are available on the internet. They destroyed the houses of the activists, knocked them to the floor in front of their children, handcuffed them, and broke the children's toys. This act of violence shows that the state is taking revenge,” Jean-Philippe Antolini underlined.

“We demand release of our activists. This violence didn’t just happen a few days after the General Assembly. What we see is that before every visit of any representative of France to Corsica, such aggressive situations have become systematic. Every time before the visit of the French minister, the members of this movement are detained, which shows that the state is trying to drown out our voice and block us," he mentioned.

Touching upon the issue of autonomy, Jean-Philippe Antolini underscored that there cannot be autonomy without the legislature, the Corsican language as an official language, as well as the recognition of the Corsican people and their citizenship.

"The detention of our activists shows that we are re-forming and getting stronger, and France is extremely concerned about this situation,” he added.
