Erdogan approves grant agreement between Azerbaijan and Türkiye

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan approved the grant agreement signed with Azerbaijan.

Report informs that the document consists of 10 articles.

The agreement was signed by the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan, Mukhtar Babayev, and the Minister of Treasury and Finance of Türkiye, Mehmet Simsek.

The Ministry of Treasury and Finance of Türkiye and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan have been identified as the bodies responsible for the implementation of the document.

According to the agreement, the Ministry of Treasury and Finance of Türkiye will allocate up to 250 million liras ($8.3 million) to the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan.

The goal is to finance the implementation of the Türkiye-Azerbaijan International Forestry Training Center project.

If the total cost of the project (construction + consulting) is less than 250,000,000.00 TL, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan will not claim the right to use the remaining part of the grant. The grantor will not pay any additional costs that directly or indirectly exceed the amount of the grant.

All payments and transactions under the grant will be exempt from all taxes, fees, expenses, and fund payments.

The grant agreement will be valid until December 31, 2025.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the "Azerbaijan-Turkiye International Forestry Training Center," "Smart Seedlings," and "Friendship Forest" Complex, which will be established in Jabrayil district, was held on October 20, 2022. The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, attended the ceremony.
