Türkiye to extend mandate of Turkish troops deployed in Azerbaijan for 1 year

President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan has submitted a motion to the country's parliament proposing the extension for one year the deployment of Turkish Armed Forces troops sent to Azerbaijan.

 

The bill mentions that the implementation of measures outlined in the trilateral statement signed by Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Russia on November 10, 2020, following the liberation of the occupied Azerbaijani lands, continues.

 

The document notes that Türkiye continues to contribute to maintaining peace and stability in the region.

 

The bill also hails the successful activity of the Turkish Armed Forces in the Joint Monitoring Center, established by Türkiye and Russia, noting that, through its activity at the Center, Türkiye contributes to maintaining security in the region, as well as building confidence between the parties.
