Romanian newspaper publishes article on Azerbaijan’s National Flag Day

The influential Hungarian “Ultima Ora” newspaper has published an article by Azerbaijani Ambassador to the country Huseyn Najafov headlined “November 9 - National Flag Day of Azerbaijan”.

 

The article said that according to the Decree of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev of November 17, 2009, each year November 9 is marked as the National Flag Day in the country.

 

The Ambassador highlighted the history of establishment of the Flag Day, noting that the National Flag, which is the legacy of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, demonstrates the commitment of the Azerbaijani people to the ideology of freedom and national values. “After Azerbaijan regained its independence, the National Flag became one of the sacred symbols of statehood for all citizens of the country as a symbol of national sovereignty,” the diplomat mentioned.

 

Highlighting the raising of the Azerbaijani flag in the city of Shusha three years ago, the ambassador emphasized: "We have achieved what we were aiming for, realized the dreams of the Azerbaijani people, liberated the territories from almost three decades of Armenian occupation and restored the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan."

 

Ambassador Huseyn Najafov pointed out that on October 15, 2023, President of Azerbaijan, Victorious Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev raised the national flag of Azerbaijan in Khankendi, Khojaly, Aghdara, Khojavand and Asgaran cities.

 

The author also noted that President Ilham Aliyev described the raising of the Azerbaijani flag in Khankendi as a historic event.
