The UK’s BBC Radio World Service has aired an interview with Representative of the Azerbaijani President on Special Assignments Elchin Amirbayov, as well as report highlighting the situation emerged in the region after the local anti-terrorist measures carried out by Azerbaijan.

Elchin Amirbayov highlighted the progress made following the cessation of the local anti-terrorist measures, as well as the humanitarian assistance provided to the Armenian population living in Karabakh. The Representative on Special assignments mentioned that Azerbaijan had been taking successive steps towards reintegration of the Armenian population in Karabakh, including the ongoing delivery of food, medical supplies and other necessary cargo to the area in order to improve the humanitarian situation in the region. Amirbayov said that over 50 tons of humanitarian cargo, dispatched by the Azerbaijani government, had already been distributed among the Armenian population in Karabakh. Moreover, the transportation of the injured had been ensured with the support of the International Committee of the Red Cross. He mentioned that the number of Armenian residents living in Karabakh had been exaggerated and presented as 120 thousand, with the real numbers not exceeding 50 thousand people.

Special Representative Amirbayov also emphasized that Azerbaijan wants Armenia to completely fulfill its obligations and withdraw its armed formations from the Azerbaijani territories. According to him, this process is already underway. Azerbaijan has never had any issues with the civil population. It was Armenian illegal armed formations and terrorist groups, which posed a threat to the Azerbaijani people, who were the main targets. This process is already over. Now, there is the need to make sure that the Armenian residents receive all the necessary goods, including food, medical supplies, fuel and electric energy. All these are the issues that the Azerbaijani government is ready to ensure, Amirbayov added.
