The 29th meeting of the members of the Council of CIS Heads of New Agencies has been held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
The meeting was organized by Kyrgyz KABAR News Agency at "Ala-Archa" State Residence.
Chairman of the Board of Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC) Vugar Aliyev, Director General of TASS News Agency Andrey Kondrashov and First Deputy Director General Mikhail Gusman, Director General of KABAR News Agency of Kyrgyzstan Mederbek Shermetaliev, Director General of Belarus` BelTA News Agency Irina Akulina, as well as representatives of UzA (Uzbekistan) and TDH (Turkmenistan) news agencies attended the meeting.
Addressing the event, Spokesman for the President of Kyrgyzstan Erbol Sultanbaev emphasized the changes in the information space and the growing importance of close cooperation between the leading news agencies.
Chairman of the Council, Director General of TASS News Agency Andrey Kondrashov noted that it is important for the members of the organization to unite forces in the fight against fake news, adding that a single mechanism will be created and artificial intelligence will be used for this purpose.
Chairman of the Board of Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC) Vugar Aliyev highlighted the agency’s international relations, noting that he is interested in expanding the exchange of news with partners. He also informed the meeting participants about the agency's new logo and website.
During the meeting, the participants agreed to intensify efforts to deepen mutual cooperation, and expressed their readiness to provide information support for events that will take place in the CIS countries.
