An event entitled “Heydar Aliyev and Azerbaijani-Georgian cultural relations" devoted to “Year of Heydar Aliyev" and marking the Solidarity Day of Wold Azerbaijanis has been held in the city of Marneuli, Georgia.
The event was co-organized by the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States and "Tea House" Education and Development Center in Marneuli, with the support of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Georgia.
An electronic photo exhibition showcasing the life and achievements of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev was inaugurated in the foyer of the Marneuli Culture Center. The event commenced with the National Anthems of Azerbaijan and Georgia, followed by a minute of silence in memory of the renowned politician and statesman Heydar Aliyev.
In his opening remarks, the embassy counsellor Eldar Bayramov shed light on the life and activities of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev. He emphasized that modern Azerbaijan and Georgia are bound together by strong ties of brotherhood, which is associated with the name of the National Leader, adding that the Great Leader contributed to the protection and preservation of Azerbaijani national-moral values and ethnic-cultural heritage in the territory of Georgia. He also mentioned to the attention and care shown by the Great Leader to Azerbaijani compatriots residing in Georgia, and noted that this policy was successfully continued by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev.
Addressing the 44-day Patriotic War, the counsellor underscored the establishment of peace and stability in the liberated Azerbaijani territories, bringing a new reality to the region.
Other speakers of the event, including Chairman of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States, Academician Sudeyf Imamverdiyev and an honoured journalist Telli Panahgizi also highlighted the life and activities of the National Leader, his unparalleled services to the people, nation and state of Azerbaijan, as well as the eminent leader`s efforts in building Azerbaijan - Georgia relations.
As a part of the event, Georgian historian, political scientist Guram Markhulia was presented with the honorary title of Academician of the Turan Academy of Sciences, for his services in conveying Azerbaijani truths to the world and exposing Armenian vandalism, as well as for the numerous scientific studies.
Chairman of the Executive Council of the Academy of Culture of Georgia, Academician of the Georgian Academy of Social Sciences, Shota Maglakelidze also shared his memories of the genius Leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev.
Then, the event continued with the concert program.
