The international community, human rights organizations, and the UN should recognize and support the right of Western Azerbaijanis to return to their homeland with dignity,” said Samil Ayrim, member of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye and Chairman of the Türkiye-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Group, at the international conference on “Return to Western Azerbaijan as an Essential Condition for the Supremacy of Human Rights”.
Emphasizing that the demand for return to Western Azerbaijan is not a territorial claim against Armenia, Samil Ayrim added: “It is entirely a matter of restoring historical justice. In this regard, the truth should be widely delivered to the international community.
He also drew attention to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's policy aimed at ensuring peace and sustainable development, noting that if Azerbaijan had territorial claims against Armenia, a provision related to Western Azerbaijan would have been included in the final text of the peace treaty.
According to him, the path to peace lies through the Armenia’s constitutional amendments and the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group.
