The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, one of the world’s largest and most prestigious events, has officially begun in Baku.
Below is a photo report prepared by AZERTAC from the ongoing COP29 conference.
Green Zone activities, a significant component of COP29, began today.
COP29, being held at the Baku Stadium until November 22, marks the largest event hosted by Azerbaijan to date and is the first of its kind in the region.
The highest-level event within COP29, the World Leaders Climate Action Summit, will take place from November 12-13.
A key expectation from COP29 is the agreement on a fair and ambitious New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG) on Climate Finance.
Fourteen initiatives proposed by the COP29 Presidency include integrating climate action with sustainable development goals, developing green energy corridors, creating green energy storage solutions, advancing clean hydrogen, reducing methane from organic waste, and promoting green digital action.
These initiatives aim to generate climate finance, essential for meeting the 1.5°C global warming target and ensuring a unified global response to climate change.
