Azerbaijan increases travel allowances for officials traveling abroad in connection with COP29

The government of Azerbaijan has increased travel allowances for officials who will be sent abroad in connection with the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

According to Report, Prime Minister Ali Asadov has signed a decision amending the Cabinet of Ministers' Decision No. 14 dated January 25, 2008, "On Norms of Travel Expenses".

The decision adds a third sentence to Part 2 of the "Notes" section in Appendix No. 2, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers' Decision No. 14 dated January 25, 2008, which states:

"Members of the Organizing Committee established by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 4264 dated January 13, 2024, in connection with the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the 19th session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol, and the 6th session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement in Baku, as well as members of the delegation consisting of responsible representatives formed by the designated President of these sessions for preparatory work, shall receive an additional 50 percent of the daily rate of travel expenses established for New York, Washington, Geneva, Davos, Rio de Janeiro, Abu Dhabi, Sydney, Tokyo, London, Madrid, Paris, Rome, Vienna, Singapore, and Nukualofa 2 when traveling to these cities within the framework of COP29 events during 2024-2025."
