COP29 Presidency holds meeting with chairs of negotiating groups in Bonn

The COP29 Presidency held a meeting as part of June Climate Meetings with Chairs of Negotiating Groups and representatives from Russia and Türkiye to discuss collaborative strategies for Climate Action ahead of COP29 in Baku this November.

Representatives of the main negotiating groups such as G77, European Union, "Umbrella Group" and Least Developed Countries (LDC) participated in the meeting.

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, COP29 President- Designate Mukhtar Babayev joined the discussions on the issues of Azerbaijan’s COP29 agenda.

During the meeting, discussions mainly focused on climate finance, as well as expanding financial support for developing countries to achieve their climate goals. The parties stressed the importance of fulfilling climate finance pledges to support climate change adaptation and mitigation efforts.

The sides also underscored the need to update and implement the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) by the countries.
