US religious figures hail interreligious harmony in Azerbaijan

The members of the US delegation consisting of religious figures have hailed the interreligious harmony and tolerant environment in Azerbaijan as they met with Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Ramin Mammadov.

The US delegation included the leadership of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of the United States of America, David Bednar, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, Jack Gerard, a member of the Quorum of the Seventy Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as well as President of The Stirling Foundation Miles Hansen and CEO of the Foundation Edward Rowe.

The members of the US delegation also highlighted the importance of sharing Azerbaijan's practice of tolerance.

They were informed that the tolerant environment and the culture of peaceful coexistence in Azerbaijan had been further strengthened in line with the state-religion concept, and that this area has become a priority area of state policy. It was noted that President Ilham Aliyev regularly allocates financial aid to Islamic and non-Islamic religious communities in order to support religious denominations in the country, as well as ensure harmony in their activities, without any discrimination between them.

During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on future projects.
