OANA Executive Board’s 52nd meeting highlights new ways of information dissemination

Hosted by Japan's Kyodo News Agency and chaired by Iran's IRNA Agency, the 52nd meeting and conference of the Executive Board of the Organization of Asia Pacific News Agencies (OANA) have started in Tokyo.

OANA vice-president - AZERTAC News Agency is also participating in the meeting and conference of the Executive Board.

In his opening remarks, OANA President and IRNA Managing Director Ali Naderi and President of Japan's Kyodo News Toru Mizutani emphasized the challenges confronting the media. They highlighted the rapid development of technologies, which offers expanded opportunities in news broadcasting, while also raising concerns about information security. Speakers stressed the necessity for news agencies to adapt technologies flexibly to maintain their status as reliable sources of information, enabling them to reach a wider audience.

The conference centered on methods of disseminating information to the younger generation and diversifying news agencies' sources of income. Yonhap News Agency highlighted its project aimed at delivering news to young people through game programs or entertaining formats, prompting extensive discussion among attendees regarding young people’s news consumption mainly through social media.

Touching upon the diversification of news broadcasting, news agencies underlined the increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) platforms. Kyodo Agency introduced a news broadcast project focusing on electric cars, aiming to transmit news to car operating systems via GPS, prioritizing the delivery of video content and audio news.

The conference concluded with interactive discussions among participants.
