The Coordination Center for Grassroots Action has issued a communique expressing strong support for the Nazione Party in Corsica, Corsica Libera, National Liberation Front of Corsica (FLNC), and the whole Corsican brothers and sisters.

Primarily, the Center steadfastly supported the Corsican activists Anto Simoni and Nicolas Pinzuti, who were arrested by French police on January 30 for the incident in Sant-Maria di Lota.

Describing the struggle of Corsican people as a noble action, the communiqué mentioned that the expression of youth anger is understandable in the light of the current situation in the island of Corsica regarding the right to self-determination, and unfulfilled promises.

The document noted that the major milestones in self-determination process for New Caledonia commenced with the signing of 1988 Matignon and 1998 Nouméa Accords, respectively.

“In 2018 and 2020, during the first years of the referendum, the pro-independence vote spiked from 43 percent to 47 percent, indicating a significant advance that could result in “Yes” victory in 2022. However, now the French state has created such a demographic situation in the island that "No" must win at any cost. On December 12, 2021, the French government organized the third referendum before mourning the deaths of our loved ones due to COVID. That was a disrespect by the French state to the traditional institutions of Kanaky, as well as the FLNC and other independence parties. 90 percent of the Kanak people could not exercise their right to vote, and "No" won with 57 percent abstentions because of their local clones of the French state,” the communiqué underlined.

According to the Center, independence supporters, France cannot take any decision against the will of the Kanak people and the Caledonians, regarding of any changes taking place.

“Kanaky is turning into a colony again. For many years - since the signing of various accords, we have built a peaceful path, and it is impossible to plan immigration to our country," the Center underscored in the statement.

The Center also touched upon the results of the third referendum, describing it as rigged and the stolen vote of the indigenous Kanak people.

The communique urged the French state to grant independence to the Kanak people, the Corsican people, the peoples of Tahiti, Martinique, the Guiana, Guadeloupe, the Basque people, as well as all other peoples who are fighting for their independence.

The Coordination Center for Grassroots Action has already organized 4 rallies in Nouméa, as well as in Koné, launching a sit-in protest in front the Congress of New Caledonia.
