As part of the activities carried out by the Azerbaijan Army’s engineer-sapper units, from the beginning of this year to March 1, 205 hectares of the territory were cleared from mines and unexploded ordnance, the Ministry of Defense told AZERTAC.

“36,260 hectares of land were cleared from mines and unexploded ordnance by the Azerbaijan Army’s engineer-sapper units in the liberated territories up to date. In total, 10,440 anti-personnel mines, 3,301 anti-tank mines and 12,693 unexploded ordnance were detected.

Detected mines and unexploded ordnance, including explosives made in a handicraft manner are destroyed in specially designated areas by detonation and burning taking into account security measures.

During the clearance of territories from mines and unexploded ordnance, the main efforts are aimed at settlements, sowing plots, roads, and infrastructure facilities.
