Azerbaijan, John Deere discuss expansion of cooperation

Majnun Mammadov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Agriculture, met with Csaba Lejko, President for CIS and Central Asia at John Deere and Chief Executive Officer of John Deere Walldorf International GmbH.

Minister Mammadov briefed the John Deere official on the role of agriculture in the development of Azerbaijan’s non-oil sector, the reforms carried out in the agricultural sphere, the progress achieved, the state support provided to farmers, the digitalization of agriculture, the projects implemented for the application of artificial intelligence in the sector, the country’s favorable investment and business climate, as well as the strategic goals set for agricultural development.

Csaba Lejko noted that the company he represents has been successfully operating in Azerbaijan for many years and expressed interest in further expanding the existing fruitful cooperation. Highlighting that cooperation prospects had been widely discussed during the meeting with President Ilham Aliyev, Lejko touched upon the implementation of potential projects in cotton growing, grain production, irrigation, logistics, specialist training, renewal of technical equipment, and other areas.

During the meeting, the sides reached a preliminary agreement on cooperation in these areas.

The meeting also discussed other issues of mutual interest.
