As part of Azerbaijani Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov’s visit to the Czech Republic, a business roundtable was held in Prague with the participation of Czech entrepreneurs.
In his remarks, Minister Jabbarov emphasized that relations between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic are founded on mutual trust and shared strategic priorities. He noted that the Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership, signed in 2015, has played a key role in fostering long-term cooperation.
The minister highlighted the growing economic ties between the two countries, stating: “From January to June 2025, trade turnover between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic reached approximately $485 million.”
Jabbarov also pointed to the broad prospects for investment cooperation. The “Agreement on the Promotion and Mutual Protection of Investments,” signed in 2011, has created a solid legal basis for joint projects and capital flows. At present, 25 Czech companies operate in Azerbaijan in sectors such as agriculture, industry, transport, construction, trade, and services.
The meeting underscored the potential for further cooperation in energy, transport, industry, trade, and other fields. Minister Jabbarov shared details on Azerbaijan’s favorable business and investment environment, including the Alat Free Economic Zone, industrial parks, investment opportunities in the liberated territories, and the country’s transport and transit capabilities. Czech companies were invited to actively participate in these opportunities.
David Müller, Director General of the Section of European Union and Foreign Trade at the Czech Republic’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, emphasized the mutually beneficial nature of bilateral cooperation. He reaffirmed that Czech businesses are keen to expand partnerships with Azerbaijan and highlighted opportunities for deepening ties between the business communities of both countries.
The roundtable discussions focused primarily on advancing commercial relations. The event also featured presentations by Czech companies, including Chemoprojekt, Czechoslovak Group, Mavel, Omnipol, Škoda, TES VSETÍN, and VSL Group, followed by a Q&A session.
