Azerbaijan's oil and gas are delivered to the global markets, including Europe, through Türkiye, Fuad Huseynaliyev, Director of Report Information Agency, said while commenting on Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's state visit to Türkiye and his participation, along with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in the opening ceremony of the Igdir-Nakhchivan gas pipeline.

Report quotes Huseynaliyev as saying the fact that the main gas route, the Southern Gas Corridor, runs to Europe through the Turkish territory has further developed Azerbaijan-Türkiye relations: "Continuous discussions are ongoing regarding the use of the Trans-Anatolian Gas Pipeline (TANAP) and Trans-Adriatic Gas Pipeline (TAP) projects by other countries. Undoubtedly, Azerbaijan and Türkiye have created the main connection with Europe, which shows the importance of both countries."

The director also highlighted the importance of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line: "It is through this route that the access to Europe is provided via Turkish territory, resulting in a long route from China to Europe. All these economic projects mean the creation of a new, broad, and comprehensive route in the region, including Europe, China, and Kazakhstan. This includes both transportation of cargo, as well as the delivery of oil and gas."

Huseynaliyev added that Kazakhstan currently uses the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan route sufficiently and exports its oil to the world market through this line.

"This has to do with the Russia-Ukraine war. The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan line is a safer route. By the way, there have been talks for many years about Turkmenistan's use of our gas line that starts from Baku and extends to Europe. Of course, Turkmenistan should take the initial step for its implementation, only after which their gas can be easily delivered to Europe," he explained.

Report's director also pointed out that all these projects demonstrate the importance of investments made and decisions taken in the past for today and the result of the brotherhood policy between Azerbaijan and Türkiye.
