Azerbaijan is currently among 54 middle-income countries, Shahmar Movsumov, head of the Economic Affairs and Innovation Development Policy Department of the country's Presidential Administration, said at the presentation of the World Bank's World Development Report 2024 in Baku, Report informs.

According to Movsumov, thanks to successful policies, the country has strengthened its positions in the region both politically and economically over 30 years.

"Having overcome economic difficulties, we have created a foundation for sustainable growth. Azerbaijan is now among 54 middle-income countries. This is a very significant achievement in a short period of time. As a result of the implemented policies, Azerbaijan's positions in the region have strengthened both politically and economically. At the same time, this strength allowed us to restore our territorial integrity and sovereignty. Over 30 years, Azerbaijan has gone from poverty to becoming a sustainable and economically strong state," he noted.
