Türkiye hosts ceremony for transporting Azerbaijani gas to Syria

An event marking the start of the transportation of Azerbaijani gas via Turkish territory to Syria was held in the Turkish city of Kilis.

The ceremony was attended by government representatives and officials from Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Syria and Qatar.

Addressing the event, Azerbaijani Minister of Economy, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of SOCAR Mikayil Jabbarov noted that the export of Azerbaijani gas from Türkiye to Syria was launched in a short period of time based on the agreements reached during the meetings between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Syrian Transitional President Ahmed Al-Sharaa on April 11 this year in Antalya and July 12 in Baku.

Other speakers the event included Syrian Energy Minister Mohammed al-Bashir, Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar.

As part of the Azerbaijani delegation's visit to Türkiye, bilateral meetings were also held with Turkish and Syrian delegations. During the meetings discussions revolved around the opportunities for expanding cooperation in the energy sector, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
