The total capacity of the small hydroelectric power stations (SHPSs) built in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories is 270 MW, Teymur Abdullayev, head of the press service of Azerenerji OJSC, told reporters in Kalbajar, Report informs.
Abdullayev emphasized that the commissioning of these small hydropower plants significantly enhances the region's green energy potential.
He stated, "Work is ongoing to build small hydropower plants on the rivers formed on the Lesser Caucasus mountain range. In the past year, nine hydropower plants have been constructed and put into operation."
“Among the recently commissioned projects are the 4.3 MW Zar SHPS built on the Zar River and the newly constructed 4.1 MW Toghanaly SHPS on the Kurakchay River in the Dozular village of Goygol district. The launch of these small hydropower plants boosts the region’s green energy potential. Both plants were constructed in full compliance with all regulations. In total, the small hydroelectric power stations in the liberated territories have capacity of 270 MW,” Abdullayev noted.
