Azerbaijan joins International Olive Council

Azerbaijan has been accepted as a member of the International Olive Council (IOC), Report informs, citing the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO).

The IOCouncil is the world’s only international intergovernmental organization in the field of olive oil and table olives. It was set up in Madrid, Spain, in 1959, under the auspices of the United Nations. IOC members include Albania, Argentina, Azerbaijan, European Union countries, Algeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Egypt, Georgia, Iran, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Montenegro, Morocco, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Türkiye, Uruguay, and Uzbekistan.

The Council is a decisive player in contributing to the sustainable and responsible development of olive growing and it serves as a world forum for discussing policymaking issues and tackling present and future challenges.
