The World Bank (WB) has expressed its keenness to support Azerbaijan regarding the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29),” said Regional Director for Sustainable Development of Europe and the Central Asia region of the World Bank Sameh Naguib Wahba as he met with First Deputy Minister of Economy Elnur Aliyev.

During the meeting, the WB executive was informed about projects such as green and sustainable cities, digitalization, development of the shipbuilding industry, expansion the renewable energy sources, employment support, and other projects.

Sameh Naguib Wahba hailed the cooperation between the World Bank and Azerbaijan. He pointed out that the Road Map designed to expand cooperation would strengthen the partnership. The WB regional director congratulated Azerbaijan on being selected to host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).

The two also shared views on various domains of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the World Bank, as well as the programs and future projects implemented by the organization in Azerbaijan, especially in the fields of urban, water and agriculture management.
