The project Support for the Development of Potato Farming in Dashkasan was successfully realized by the organization of AzerGold Closed Joint-Stock Company and with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture.
On September 11, the awarding ceremony of potato farm owners who participated in the project was held at Chovdar Integrated Regional Processing Area (CIRPA) in Dashkasan region.
Officials from AzerGold CJSC, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Economy, Dashkasan Region Executive Power, Scientific Research Institute of Vegetable Growing, as well as specialists and potato farmers involved in the project participated in the event.
It was stated that as its corporate social responsibility this project of AzerGold CJSC was aimed at contributing to the development of potato farming, which was considered one of the traditional agricultural fields in Dashkasan, at promoting it as entrepreneurship field, and increasing potato production by dry farming. The project involved ten farmers from the villages of Gushchu and Zaylik, who were registered in the Electronic Agricultural Information System and had at least one hectare of arable land.
Theoretical and practical trainings were organized for the farmers by the experts of the Scientific Research Institute of Vegetable Growing, "Telman" and "Amiri 600" seeds suitable for local climatic conditions were sown on a 10-hectare area, appropriate agro-technical care was provided, and despite unfavourable weather conditions about 100 tons of crops were collected within the project. Eighty-five percent of the harvested crop was presented to farmers and fifteen percent was shared among low-income families living in Dashkasan region.
At the event, it was highlighted that the development of potato farming, which was considered as one of the strategic products, was always considered at state level, and realization of such projects in regions additionally contributed to the general work.
Potato farmers who completed the training and practical exercises successfully were awarded with certificates at the end of the event.
