Liverpool seals 2-0 win over Real Madrid in Champions League

Liverpool secured a 2-0 victory against Real Madrid on matchday five of the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, according to Anadolu Agency.

Neither team was able to produce a goal in the first half, but Liverpool broke the deadlock when Alexis Mac Allister made a close-range finish in the 52nd minute.

Conor Bradley assisted Mac Allister at Anfield Stadium.

In the 60th minute, Liverpool's Andrew Robertson conceded a penalty for a foul on Real Madrid's Lucas Vazquez.

However, Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher saved Kylian Mbappe's penalty.

Liverpool was also awarded a penalty after Real Madrid defender Ferland Mendy brought down Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah in the 69th minute.

After a minute, Salah missed the target from the penalty spot.

Cody Gakpo came off the bench in the 67th minute to double the lead with a header for The Reds in the 77th minute, assisted by Robertson.

The game ended in favor of Liverpool, 2-0.

As of matchday five, Liverpool are at the top of the league phase table with 15 points and Real Madrid are 24th with six points.
