Global air temperatures are rising faster than anticipated, extreme weather events are becoming more frequent and severe, sea levels are fluctuating, glaciers are melting, and desertification and increasing air pollution are contributing to deteriorating human health. These challenges underscore the importance of maximum participation from the international community in COP29, the media outlet said.

The author notes that the last promise of $100 billion in annual funding, made in 2009, was not fulfilled, leading to increased distrust and lost decades in the fight against climate change. This failure highlights the need for concrete action and commitment at COP29.

He further adds that as the host country, Azerbaijan has committed to conducting COP29 inclusively, transparently, and impartially. The country has outlined its vision for COP29 as increasing ambition and stimulating action.
