“I'm looking forward to Cop 29 in November, which is a major achievement for the Republic of Azerbaijan to host this conference,” the newly appointed first Honorary Consul of Azerbaijan in Dublin, Republic of Ireland Terry Leyden said in an interview with AZERTAC news agency.

He said he is very privileged to get this appointment.

“It is very important. And I know that Azerbaijan doing extremely good job in relation to this major crisis in the world today. And there are many crisis in the world today. But climate change is the most central, which affects the whole world,” he added.

“I look forward to closer relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and that was very evident when Armenia withdrew their application for hosting Cop 29 in Armenia to allow the Republic of Azerbaijan to host that. That's a very good step in the right direction,” noted Leyden.

“Azerbaijan has achieved a lot since it received independence from the USSR. After such a short time, it's become one of the most powerful nations in the world. So I think that's a major achievement by the people of Azerbaijan. As the former Trade Minister of the Republic of Ireland I intend to develop both way trade from Azerbaijan to Ireland and Ireland to Azerbaijan. We can work together to develop better trade links between the Republic of Ireland, which has developed tremendous facilities in relation to education and trade and commerce,” said the Honorary Consul.
