Snowfalls in Algeria lead to suspension of traffic on some highways

Heavy snowfalls that hit the northern regions of Algeria have led to temporary suspension of traffic on highways in several provinces, according to the Algerian National Gendarmerie, Report informs referring to TASS.

 

Authorities blocked traffic on several roads linking Tizi Ouzou province with Bejaia and Bouira. The most difficult situation is observed in the areas of mountain passes. Due to the snowfall, the gendarmerie advised drivers to exercise caution and vigilance.

 

As the meteorological service noted, snowfalls are expected this weekend in more than two dozen provinces.

 

Snowfalls in northern Algeria occur sporadically from late autumn to early spring.
