Rustam Minnikhanov, Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, visited the Alat Free Economic Zone (AFEZ) on December 17.
The meeting, attended by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov and Chairman of the Board of AFEZ Valeh Alasgarov, focused on the ongoing efforts of the Alat Free Economic Zone, its unique legislative framework, and the modern engineering and communication systems supporting its internal and external land plots.
The FEZ1 Standard Industrial Zone, operating since 2023, covers 30 hectares dedicated to investor areas, with 27 investors already registered in AFEZ. Four investors are actively working on rapid construction projects, with three more set to begin in early 2025.
Infrastructure development for heavy industries is underway on the 350-hectare FEZ3. Meanwhile, the construction of an airport owned by the SW-AFEZCO company is progressing in the 748-hectare FEZ4, which occupies a total area of 4,313 hectares. The airport is set to support innovative technologies and pharmaceutical companies.
Following the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov presented three minibuses to Vahid Hajiyev, Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in the Jabrayil, Gubadli, and Zangilan districts.
