Myanmar gov’t approves final plan for parliamentary elections

The Myanmar government has approved the last point of the road map for organizing general parliamentary elections in the country, said Myanmar Prime Minister Min Aung Hlaing, Report informs referring to The Global New Light of Myanmar newspaper.

“The government has approved the final point of the roadmap, which will work to ensure the integrity and fairness of general elections to prevent eligible voters from losing their rights. Once the state of emergency is lifted, free and fair multi-party democratic elections will be held, and government responsibilities will be transferred to the elected government,” he noted.

Min Aung Hlaing emphasized that “armed clashes in the country are occurring due to attempts to solve political problems through terrorist means.” He noted that the armed forces of the republic in this regard are cooperating with the Myanmar police in order to suppress the terrorist activities of ethnic armed groups.
