German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser has spoken in favor of tightening security measures ahead of the New Year due to the additional threat associated with the Middle East crisis, Report informs referring to the Tagesspiegel.
"Our operational forces have to face blind rage again and again... The response to this must be tough action from the police and the judiciary," Faeser noted.
She also stressed that the Middle East crisis poses an additional threat and promised that security agencies will be “extremely vigilant.”
“The response to Hamas terror and the war in Gaza has led to hatred and violence on our streets,” the minister added.
Among other measures, security will be strengthened at four Berlin train stations. Faeser promised to support the operational forces of the capital and involve 500 federal police officers in law enforcement.
