Iranian President Raisi officially welcomes Cuban counterpart

The visiting Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel was accorded an official welcome by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi at the Sa’dabad Cultural-Historical Complex in Tehran on Monday, according to IRNA.

Upon arrival at Mehrabad airport in western Tehran late on Sunday, the Cuban president was welcomed by Iranian Minister of Health Bahram Eynollahi.

On Monday morning, the visiting Cuban president is to be officially welcomed by his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raisi at Saadabad cultural complex in northern Tehran.

Holding private talks, attending joint meetings between the two sides’ delegations, signing several agreements on cooperation and participating in the joint press briefing are among the plans of the Cuban president in Tehran.

Today's visit of Miguel Díaz-Canel to Tehran is the first after the travel of the late Cuban president Fidel Castro to Iran about 23 years ago.

In a related development, President Raisi visited Cuba on a regional tour to the Latin American countries about six months ago. The visit of an Iranian president to Cuba took place after 12 years.

World
