On May 21, Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with a visiting delegation led by Amina Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations.
The meeting focused on the current state and prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UN. The two sides exchanged views on multilateral cooperation, the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), climate action, as well as initiatives carried out for post-conflict recovery and reconstruction.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted Azerbaijan's contributions to the international peace, security, and sustainable development agenda, and emphasized our country's role in promoting regional cooperation and connectivity projects.
Additionally, he provided insight into the ongoing large-scale restoration and reconstruction projets in the liberated territories, as well as the measures put in place to ensure the safe and dignified return of internally displaced persons (IDPs).
The parties also discussed Azerbaijan's leading role in energy security and regional connectivity, along with Azerbaijan’s strategic relations with Central Asia.
UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed underscored the significance of the partnership between Azerbaijan and the UN, highlighting the importance of expanding cooperation on sustainable development, urban planning, the climate agenda, and humanitarian issues.
