Students of the Faculty of Journalism at the Baku State University have today visited the Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC).

The students had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the facilities in AZERTAC’s new building. They toured the museum and viewed photos depicting the significant activities of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva.

During the meeting with the students, Chairman of the Board of AZERTAC Vugar Aliyev congratulated them on the occasion of 2 February - the Day of Azerbaijani Youth. He stressed the active participation of journalism faculty students in the internship program initiated by AZERTAC. He mentioned that several students who participated in the internship program last year have already begun working at the agency.

The students were also informed about the history and operations of the agency. AZERTAC, known as a primary source of the country’s official news for local and foreign media outlets, releases more than 500 news, photo and video materials in 8 languages, including Azerbaijani, English, Russian, French, German, Arabic, Chinese and Spanish. These stories encompass significant events in the country and receive coverage from international media outlets.

The visit also included discussions on social media, the global information landscape, news writing, and journalistic traditions.
