Construction of one wind, three solar power plants expected in Baku

By 2040, it is proposed to build one wind and three solar power plants with a capacity of 1,200 MW on an area of 2,650 hectares in Alat, Lokbatan, Sabunchu and Mardakan settlements of Baku, Report informs with reference to the Master Plan for the Development of Baku until 2040.

According to the document, 3,313 hectares of additional land will be provided in these territories for the development of renewable energy farms.

The draft master plan provides for a phased Framework Regeneration of an additional 676 hectares of land for temporary renewable energy power plants on currently contaminated land.

The Framework Regeneration includes the project Floating solar power plant on Lake Boyukshor (300 kW), as well as the natural geological park Girmeki (202 hectares) which will help produce solar and wind energy.
