Azerbaijan, EU review cooperation in political, economic, transport and energy security areas

On April 18, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov received Magdalena Grono, the European Union Special Representative for the South Caucasus.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union (EU), the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process, as well as regional and international issues.

The sides reviewed cooperation between Azerbaijan and the EU in the political, economic, transport, energy security, and other areas, the agreements reached on cooperation platforms and instruments, as well as the next steps to be taken.

The importance of the discussions held during the visit of President of the European Council António Costa to Azerbaijan, the possible cooperation mechanisms between Azerbaijan and the European Union, the resumption of negotiations on a new bilateral agreement, and discussions on the Partnership Priorities document were highlighted.

During the meeting, they also exchanged views on the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization and peace process, as well as other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
