Baku, February 24, AZERTAC Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, attended and addressed an Iftar event organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for ambassadors of Muslim countries accredited in Azerbaijan on February 24.
Minister Bayramov extended his congratulations on the commencement of the holy month of Ramadan, wishing for peace and tranquility both for Azerbaijan and the world.
The Minister emphasized that this holy month, which binds the Islamic world together, instills profound spiritual values. He highlighted the unique role of Islam and Ramadan within the national-moral fabric of Azerbaijani society, particularly citing the country's long-standing tradition of peaceful coexistence among diverse communities.
As a nation situated at the crossroads of civilizations and cultures, he noted that Azerbaijan internationally promotes multiculturalism and interfaith harmony as core pillars of its state policy.
However, the Minister expressed concern regarding rising trends of discrimination and Islamophobia in various countries, as well as the instability resulting from ongoing conflicts within the Muslim world. He stressed that unity and solidarity across the Islamic world remain the most vital tools in addressing these challenges.
The speech also drew attention to the situation in the Middle East, specifically the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, underscoring the absolute necessity of a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
Following the Minister's remarks, the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Azerbaijan, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco Adil Embarch, delivered a speech offering his congratulations on the occasion of Ramadan.
The event concluded with an Iftar prayer recited by Jeyhun Rustamov, Deputy Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office, followed by an Iftar dinner for the participants.
