Azerbaijan, Pakistan discuss prospects for cooperation in girls' and women's education

Bahar Muradova, Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs of Azerbaijan, met with Wajiha Qamar, Pakistani Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training, on the sidelines of the international conference on “Harnessing Religious and Media Discourse and Its Impact on the Protection and Promotion of Women’s Rights in OIC Member States” held in Cairo.

Bahar Muradova highlighted that historic ties of friendship and brotherhood between Azerbaijan and Pakistan have been successfully developing across various fields, including education, social policy, and gender equality, noting the importance of expanding the existing cooperation and strengthening it at the institutional level.

The Azerbaijani Chairperson emphasized that girls’ education plays a crucial role in fostering greater socio-economic involvement for women. She also provided insight into the state programs and educational projects in Azerbaijan, to involve women and girls in education, as well as strengthen their knowledge and skills.

Pakistani Minister Wajiha Qamar praised Azerbaijan’s successful experience in this field.

The Minister emphasized the significance of projects in support of girls’ education, expressing Pakistan’s keenness to exchange views with Azerbaijan in this regard.

She also noted that the development of professional training programs for women and girls contributes to the improvement of social welfare, stressing the importance of implementing joint initiatives.

The sides also exchanged views on cooperation opportunities, the implementation of joint initiatives, and deepening of mutual relations.
