As part of his official visit to the People’s Republic of China, Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister, met with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi.
The meeting focused on the current state and prospects of bilateral and multilateral relations between Azerbaijan and China, as well as regional and international matters.
Both ministers hailed the high level of political dialogue and the momentum generated by the comprehensive strategic partnership established between the two countries in 2025, which has elevated relations to a qualitatively new level. They emphasized that the numerous agreements signed during the state visit of the President of Azerbaijan to China last April have further strengthened cooperation across multiple areas.
The parties highlighted the importance of expanding collaboration based on mutual trust and respect in trade and economics, transport and logistics, energy, renewable energy, industry, digital transformation, agriculture, humanitarian aid, and education. They also lauded joint efforts on the Middle Corridor and the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.
Officials emphasized the need for continued mutual support within international platforms and discussed regional security issues, including collaboration through the UN, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), the Non-Aligned Movement, and other multilateral formats.
The ministers noted that strengthening people-to-people ties through education, culture, tourism, and youth exchanges is central to the sustainable development of bilateral relations.
The meeting also reviewed global and regional security challenges, as well as cooperation plans within the Central Asian format.
Bayramov briefed Wang Yi on the large-scale reconstruction efforts underway in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories and on mine clearance initiatives, expressing gratitude to China for supporting ANAMA in demining projects.
The foreign ministers also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
