Although Azerbaijan’s football club Qarabağ concluded their UEFA Champions League league phase with a tough 6–0 loss to Liverpool at Anfield stadium, the Azerbaijani champions have booked their spot in the play-off round.
The hosts overwhelmed their opponents through goals by Alexis Mac Allister, who netted twice, as well as Florian Wirtz, Mohamed Salah, Hugo Ekitike, and Federico Chiesa.
Thanks to their impressive results in the preceding rounds, Qarabağ finished 22nd in the standings with 10 points—enough to become the first club from Azerbaijan to ever reach the Champions League knockout play-offs.
The Aghdam Horses will learn their next opponent tomorrow, January 30, when the official draw ceremony takes place at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.
