London hosts roundtable discussion on peace and regional security in South Caucasus

The Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) and Azerbaijan's Center of Analysis of International Relations have co-organized a roundtable discussion on “Building Peace in the South Caucasus Amid Geopolitical Uncertainty,” in London, the United Kingdom.

The event was attended by top ranking guests from Azerbaijan and the UK, as well as regional experts.

The first panel on geopolitical transformations and the regional security order was moderated by RUSI’s Director for International Security Neil Melvin.

Addressing the panel, Farid Shafiyev, Chairman of the Board of the Center of Analysis of International Relations, highlighted the shifting regional dynamics in the South Caucasus, Azerbaijan’s growing role as a leading player in the region, and the strategic importance of maintaining the US presence in the region to achieve lasting peace and sustainable regional stability.

The second panel, moderated by Farid Shafiyev, focused on existing opportunities for economic integration in the region, the link between these opportunities and the ongoing Azerbaijan-Armenia peacebuilding processes, as well as the role of economic integration as a peacebuilding tool in the South Caucasus.

During the Q&A session, Bakhtiyar Aslanbayli, bp’s Vice President for the Caspian region, Communications and External Affairs, provided updates on regional energy projects.
