Ukraine’s leading national television channel, “UA:Pershy,” aired a segment condemning the chauvinistic and fascist policies of Russian law enforcement agencies toward Azerbaijanis in Yekaterinburg.
The program featured the perspective of Rashad Taghiyev, a member of the Board of the United Diaspora of Azerbaijanis in Ukraine and an active member of Azerbaijan’s diaspora in Ukraine. Taghiyev stated that operatives of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) subjected Azerbaijanis in Yekaterinburg to brutal and unlawful treatment, resulting in the deaths of two Azerbaijanis.
“This is a consequence of the fascist and chauvinistic policies of the Russian state,” Taghiyev emphasized in his statement to the channel. He noted that following the downing of an Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) plane in the skies over Grozny, Russia, a series of vile provocations against Azerbaijan have continued.
The program’s hosts also reported on the detention of two FSB operatives during raids on the “Sputnik Azerbaijan” news agency in Baku, as well as the cancellation of cultural events organized by Russian state and private entities that were planned to take place in Azerbaijan.
